ELDERLY CARE PROGRAM INFORMATION

History

Our School's Elderly Care Program started education with additional placement in the 2012-2013 academic year.

Degree Earned

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded an associate degree in Elderly Care.
Our students who complete the program; They graduate as health technicians who have the ability to know the training principles of the Elderly Care Program, the basic characteristics and needs of the elderly, and the ability to meet the needs of the elderly accordingly, as well as the ability to approach the elderly holistically.

Admission Conditions

To be successful in the ÖSYS (TYT) exam conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Admission conditions for foreign students are announced on the university's website at the beginning of each academic year.

Transition to the Upper Level

Those who successfully complete the "Elderly Care" associate degree program can make vertical transfer to Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Gerontology, Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Social Work, Health Management undergraduate programs within the quota, if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam held by ÖSYM. Those who start working as Elderly Care professionals can take part in management positions in the institutions and organizations they work for or open their own businesses, depending on their success.
Having experience in their field and improving themselves contribute to their ability to find a job and receive good wages.

Graduation Requirements

The student must have passed all the courses in the program, FF, DD etc. There should be no note.
In this program, the student must obtain a minimum of 120 ECTS credits and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Employment Opportunities

In the developing and changing Turkey, social changes such as the transition from extended family structure to nuclear family structure and women's employment have brought elderly care problems as well as child care problems to families. In our country, legal and institutional supports for the health and social security of elderly individuals are quite inadequate. These institutions, with their qualitative and quantitative characteristics, are quite inadequate in providing service to the elderly and the population with health problems in our country. Our elderly, who are our past and our future, need attention and trust.
The need for professionals who will prepare our adults for retirement, menopause, andropause, losses, in short, for a healthy and happy old age, and who will help them maintain their productivity is increasing day by day. Elderly care professionals ensure that our mothers and fathers in the third period of life, when physical, spiritual and social losses are experienced, and our employees who retire early, prepare for old age, learn to cope with their problems, maintain the joy of life and productivity, and continue life with dignity. Students who graduate from the Elderly Services Care program work in public and private hospitals, research and practice hospitals and private polyclinics, geriatric services of public health institutions, elderly care dormitories, nursing homes, elderly clubs, elderly rest homes, rehabilitation centers and private institutions that provide home care services quantification and consideration They are subject to midterm and final exams for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is mandatory to get at least 45 points from the final exam. AA, BA, BB from one course; A student who receives one of the letter grades CB and CC is considered successful. In addition, students who have a GPA of at least 2.00 for the semester are considered successful in the courses in which they received a DC letter grade. At the end of each semester, students can take make-up exams for a maximum of 2 courses of that semester.
